KISS broke records on 12/31/20 with their over the top use of pyro when they delivered one of their largest New Year’s Eve shows EVER!

The show itself was quite standard in terms of the set list and standard KISS theatrics which have been utilized since the band started their “End of The Road” Tour two years ago.  The show started with “Detroit Rock City” and was a non stop rollercoaster ride of hits which included non make up era classics “Tears Are Falling”, “Lick It Up”, and “Heaven’s On Fire”.

Here are a few interesting facts about the Dubai show:

During “God Of Thunder” Gene did not spit blood and had to replace the phrase “Virgin Soul” with “Sacred Soul”.  This was not the only lyric to be changed during the show.

“100,000 Years” was a hard rockin’ moment in the set but lyrically it was altered so not to offend the culture in Dubai.  The word “Bitch” was replaced with “Trip”.

Gene Simmons debuted 2 brand new basses during this show.  The first featured graphics of a Vampire wearing Gene’s make up and the second was the biggest surprise of the night….Gene played a Gibson bass with a Thunderbird styled body and the rumor is that this may be a new Gene Simmons signature model bass released by Gibson in 2021.

During “Love Gun” Paul Stanley’s tech did not take the tuner off his guitar headstock and it remained on his guitar throughout the entire song as well as for “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”.  During “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” Paul stumbled while getting onto the rope/harness that took him back to the stage; a fall could have been tragic but was luckily avoided.

Paul Stanley addressed the Pandemic situation and the Covid Vaccine; He told the audience that they needed to get the vaccine so life could go back to normal.

The Encore featured a nice surprise - a surprise song!  “Strutter” was added to the encore and Paul stated that it had not been rehearsed but since they had a few extra minutes they would give everyone an extra song.

Paul Stanley debuted his new Ibanez Signature model guitar at this show and the body is identical to a Les Paul styled guitar with the headstock featuring his signature Ibanez style.

Paul was asked on Sirius XM show “Debatable” when his “Soul System” record would be released and he stated that he has plans for a March 2021 release but nothing is etched in stone.

This show will be released on Blu Ray/DVD in 2021 and if all goes as planned the band will resume their “End of The Road” tour towards the middle of 2021 with and ending slated to take place sometime in 2022 in New York.

Sirius XM "Ozzy's Boneyard" offered a FREE audio broadcast on 12/31/20 at 8 PM (EST)

In a Facebook Live Stream a fan asked former KISS Guitarist Bruce Kulick why he wasn't in Dubai performing with the band as their special guest and Bruce replied, "Ask Doc" referring to KISS Manager Doc McGhee.
