“Working With God”
King Buzzo and crew are back with a new record that’s equal parts grunge, punk, and in your face art run amok.
The record opens with an off the wall cover of a The Beach Boy’s song which has been renamed “I F*ck Around” and the lyrics are definitely NSFW!
”Negative No No” is a straight up Melvins rocker and “Bouncing Rick” has a distinctly 90’s sounding grunge tone to it.
“Caddy Daddy” has a lo-fi tone to it and the guitar riff is thick as a brick. Musically this is a stand out track on the record and one of the best rockers.
“Brian, The Horse-Faced Goon” is an off the wall track and the opening sounds like something from a demented kids program. The lyrics are quite funny too!
“Boy Mike” pummels hard and fast.
“F*ck You” is a 70’s styled rocker and I’m pretty sure the main riff is borrowed from an older song.
“The Great Good Place” is a low end rocker and mid tempo
“Hot Fish” is an artsy rocker.
“Hund” reminds me of Kyuss/Queens of The Stoneage and when I say that I mean you can clearly hear how The Melvins influenced Josh Homme in this song.
“Good Night Sweetheart” closes the record and is an off the wall acapella cover of the Spaniel’s 1953 classic which was originally written in 1951 by Carter & Hudson.
This record hits stores on February 26, 2021 with limited edition configurations available and look for Melvins vinyl reissues of their early records to hit stores later this year! The Melvins are an essential Grunge band who influenced Nirvana and most of that scene; if you have been living under a rock and never heard The Melvins music this is an absolutely essential record to check out!
Ricky Warwick (The Almighty / Black Star Riders) released his first solo record in five years 'When Life Was Hard And Fast' and to celebrate the release of the new album, Ricky has also released a lyric video for the album's closing track 'You're My Rock And Roll' - a bombastic ode to the powerful, majestic and life affirming addiction that is rock 'n' roll.
Ricky comments on the release of his new album “This album is a statement of my intent, a love of rock n roll, songwriting and playing from the heart. The only way I know how. I’m so honored I now have the opportunity to share it with all of you!”
Norway’s rising dark, hard rock band White Void signed with Nuclear Blast and will be releasing their debut album, Anti, on March 12th. White Void is the project led by Lars Are Nedland of Borknagar and Solefald, along with other notable musicians Tobias Solbakk (Ihsahn), Vegard Kummen and Elvind Marum. Their sound is interesting. Check out their new video.
