Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys are not only married to each other but also to Rock N Roll! Created from outlaw country and Redneck Hard Rock, Nashville Pussy are the bastard children of Ted Nugent, Merle Haggard, and AC/DC.
Serving as direct support for The Reverend Horton Heat, Nashville Pussy served up a super loud, meaty slab of greasy guitar driven riff rock unlike anything you will see today in the rock world.
Blaine looks like a drunk drivin’ truck driver who took the stage after traveling 32 hours straight while Ruyter looks like a more intense version of Baby from “House of 1,000 Corpses”.
Nashville Pussy walked onto the Rams Head Live stage as if they were performing on a small club; they had no ego, no attitude, and clearly related to the fans.
“Pussy Time” was the opening number and the only mellow moment in the set was then they performed a cover of “Can’t You See” by Marshall Tucker.
Ruyter’s onstage guitar volume is best described as ear splitting, however though, when you back away from the stage her harsh guitar tone fills the gaps perfectly.
Bassist Bonnie Buitrago has been with NP for 5 years and adds her own style to the bands live show. The newest member of Nashville Pussy is drummer Ben Thomas who replaces original drummer Jeremy Thompson. Jeremy chose to leave the band in order to focus on his new marriage.
Ben is a powerhouse drummer and his style/flavor ups the energy level of Nashville Pussy’s live show. Ben was given a space in the set to perform a drum solo which introduced him to the crowd quite well.
During the final song of the night Ruyter took a massive swig of Jack Daniel’s and promptly baptized the front row with her Jack Daniel’s spit. Following the “baptism” Ruyter promptly broke off every string on her guitar thus ending Nashville Pussy’s set.
