Greta Van Fleet, Junkyard, Rhino Bucket

Category: CD/Video Reviews

“Black Smoke Rising” EP

Greta Van Fleet sound like a modern day version of Led Zeppelin with their reckless abandon for guitar riffs, tight groove, and clean vocals that sound like 70’s era Robert Plant!

Musically Greta Van Fleet have an old school blues based rock n roll sound and their craft for writing solid hooks and catchy choruses are undeniable!

“Flower Power” is a touching track that borrows slightly from “Thank You” by Led Zep.

“Highway Tune” is a bluesy rocker with a kick.

Greta Van Fleet are keeping rock n roll alive in 2017!  Catch the band opening for The Struts on May 19, 2017 at Rams Head Live in Baltimore.

“High Water”

Junkyard’s single “Hollywood” is how the casual fan might remember the band.  The single garnered airplay on MTV and helped the band tour the world for 2 major label released before fading away after the release of 1991’s “Sixes, Sevens and Nines”.

20+ years later, a reunited Junkyard has a new record on shelved entitled “High Water”.

“High Water” is a fast paced, hard rock/punk rock record that fuses southern rock with punk rock attitude.

“Walk Away” is a fast rocker, “Faded” is a straight up rocker, “Styrofoam Cup” is a mellower track, and “Don’t Give a Damn” has a touch of Country to it.

“The Last Real Rock N Roll”

“Hello Citizens” sounds like it could have been on every AC/DC record ever released; that’s also how almost every song on this record sounds!

What’s interesting about this record is that the guitar tone has grit yet still maintains a clean sound.  The songs are simple, the chorus and rhythms are what drive each track, and the gravel soaked vocals are the icing on the cake.
